This Privacy Policy explains how Weixin Qiao, an individual operating as Moira, based in Hong Kong ("Moira", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use mymoira.com and related services (the "Service").
1. Information we collect
- Birth data. To calculate your astrological chart, we collect your date of birth, time of birth (if you provide it), and birthplace (a city, which we convert into coordinates).
- Account information. Your email address, and authentication details if you sign in with a third-party provider.
- Payment information. If you subscribe, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full payment card details — Stripe handles these directly under its own privacy policy.
- Usage data. Basic information about how you use the Service — pages viewed, features used, and experiment assignments (e.g., which version of a page you saw) — to operate and improve Moira.
- Cookies and local storage. We use essential cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences and experiment group. See Section 9.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to: calculate your chart and generate your readings; create and manage your account; send transactional and weekly emails; process subscriptions and payments; operate, secure, and improve the Service; and comply with legal obligations.
3. How your data is processed by our AI provider
To generate your readings, we send derived astrological data — such as your planetary placements (e.g., Sun, Moon, and Ascendant signs), chart sect, and age — to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude). We do not send your name, email address, exact date of birth, or precise birthplace to the AI provider.
4. Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers that help us run Moira, and only as needed:
- Cloudflare — hosting, database, and infrastructure (Pages, Workers, D1, KV).
- Anthropic — AI generation of readings (see Section 3).
- Resend — delivery of transactional and weekly emails (receives your email address).
- Stripe — payment processing.
We do not sell your personal data.
5. International transfers
Moira is hosted on Cloudflare's global network, and our providers may process data in various countries. By using the Service, you understand your data may be processed outside your country of residence. We take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate protection.
6. Data retention
We retain your account and chart data while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time (Section 7). After deletion, we remove your data within 30 days, except where we must retain certain records (e.g., payment records for tax and accounting).
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to withdraw consent or object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time.
8. Children
Moira is not intended for anyone under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
9. Cookies and local storage
We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences and experiment group. We may also use limited analytics to understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may break parts of the Service.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with an updated "Last updated" date.
