Annual profections: the yearly chapter
Annual profections are one of the clearest Hellenistic timing techniques. Each year of life activates one whole-sign house, beginning with the first house at birth and moving one house forward on each birthday. The cycle repeats every twelve years.
This gives the year a focus. A 10th house profection year may bring career, visibility or responsibility into sharper relief. A 4th house year may emphasize home, family, roots or private foundations. The house does not guarantee an event; it names the room where life is asking for attention.

Transits: the moving sky against the natal chart

Sect is the classical distinction between day charts and night charts. If the Sun is above the horizon, the chart is diurnal. If it is below, the chart is nocturnal. This changes which planets belong more naturally to the chart's team.
Sect matters for timing because not every planet speaks with the same tone in every chart. Jupiter and Saturn belong to the day sect; the Moon, Venus and Mars belong to the night sect. A Mars transit in a night chart may not feel the same as Mars out of sect in a day chart. The technique does not change the math, but it changes the reading of the evidence.
Zodiacal releasing and longer life arcs
Zodiacal releasing is another Hellenistic timing method, often used for longer arcs of vocation, visibility and relationship with fortune. It divides life into chapters and sub-periods from a calculated starting point. Compared with annual profections, it is more layered and less beginner-friendly.
In a practical reading, zodiacal releasing can describe the long arc while annual profections describe the current year and transits describe the active weather. The techniques are strongest when they clarify one another instead of competing for attention.
